Bank of reserve of the Vanuatu (Reserve Bank of Vanuatu)


The bank of reserve of the Vanuatu is a public institution which began its operations in 1981. The Vanuatu had taken its independence of France and the United Kingdom in 1980. At the origin, this central bank was responsible for the exchange of the currencies and played the part of advising government on the banking and monetary questions. Through its missions and its values such as the respect and the integrity, it attempts to build a strong economy to reinforce the stability of the financial system of the country. The bank of reserve of the Vanuatu must fulfill several functions: first of all, it is a question of emitting the national currency and of managing its supply like its availability. This central bank must also supervise and regulate banking and the extension of the credit. It ensures the promotion of banking stability and a healthy capitalization. In addition, this institution is always the adviser of the government on the monetary and banking questions. It attempts to set up financial conditions favorable to the economic development of the country.  


Lastly, the bank of reserve of Vanuatu is charged to regulate and supervise the national banks and international.
