Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankasi)
The central bank of the Republic of Turkey was created in 1930 in the shape of a joint stock company. It is in 1926 that the reflections concerning the launching of a central bank began. However, this institution began its operations in 1932. The main aim of the latter is to maintain the price stability and of the financial system in the country. It is directed by a governor and its seat is in Ankara.
The central bank of Turkey must fulfill several missions: the first of them is the definition of the mode of rate of exchange jointly with the government. It is this central bank which works out also the policy of exchange intended to be applied in the country. In addition, it manages monetary reserves and of gold of Turkey: it is in particular a question of providing the liquidity necessary to the interior foreign debt and debt servicings, of reinforcing the economy of the country and of improving confidence of the international markets in the Turkish economy. The central bank of Turkey is also charged to supervise the operation of the systems of payment so that the latter are effective. Lastly, it issues the banknotes and the coins, the national currency being delivers it Turkish.
